My Gmail account is configured under company information but fails when attempting a test message

By default, the required settings for Gmail to work within My Vision Express are as follows:


SMTP Server-

Port 587

username - full email address

password - email password

SSL unchecked.

If after the above information is entered, it still fails to send a test message, perform the following steps (retest after each step- a log out and log back in is required for the changes to take effect)

-Verify the credentials. Re-type then save to verify.

-Toggle the SSL Encryption check box. While it should not be necessary to have it checked, there has been instances where checking it allowed emails to go out successfully.

-Log into Gmail from a browser - while still logged in, open a new tab in the browser and go to the following link to verify the account through Google.

Allow access to Gmail account from outside applications

Click Continue.

If the above steps still do not work, contact your IT dept as it may be environmental (i.e. firewall issue, etc).
