Why won't my Fujitsu ScanSnap work with MVE?
Posted by Chris Calvaresi on 01 Oct 2014 11:46 AM

When selecting a printer and/or scanner to use with My Vision Express, it is important to make sure that the device is TWAIN compliant. TWAIN is a protocol that regulates communication between software and digital imaging devices such as printers, scanners, and cameras.  If your device is not TWAIN compliant, it will not work with My Vision Express.

The Fujitsu ScanSnap scanners do not have any available TWAIN drivers; therefore, they will not work with My Vision Express. In an article published by Fujitsu, they explain that TWAIN drivers increase compatibility by allowing the user to utilize any software package that is TWAIN compatible, but they assume a certain level of knowledge. It also makes the assumtion that users want to "drive" the scanner from their application as opposed to "sending" the document to their application. The ScanSnap scanners were developed to be more user friendly and provide different features than what is normally available with TWAIN compatible devices. However, the format is not standard and not supported by My Vision Express.
