Microsoft Edge browser not supported for MVE Cloud

One of the new features of Windows 10 is the Windows app version of an internet browser called Microsoft Edge. This app is not supported for use of MVE Cloud. It has been known to cause several issues for our users including, but not limited to:

  • Failure to connect - The app may not launch the necessary files and cause the MVE Cloud user to not be able to login.
  • Using stored credentials - The app will log in with previously used credentials that are stored on your computer. These credentials may not be correct for the user that you want to login with.
  • Not allowing Single Sign-on feature - this would require our users to always enter additional characters before the username, thus making the login process more difficult for our users.

A new or newly upgraded Windows 10 computer will display the Microsoft Edge icon on the taskbar by default, instead of an icon for Internet Explorer. We recommend removing this icon to avoid any accidental use of Microsoft Edge that will result in a failed connection to MVE Cloud. To remove the icon, right-click on it and select "Unpin from Taskbar."

In addition to this, we encourage our users to pin Internet Explorer to the taskbar in place of Edge. To do so, click the start button in the lower left corner of the screen. Then start typing "Internet Explorer" to search for the application. Once it appears in the search results, right-click on it and select "Pin to Start."
