Microsoft Remote Desktop App OSX - Rollback instructions

New updates to the OSX (Mac desktop and laptop computers) version of the Microsoft Remote Desktop app have sometimes been unstable and caused our users issues. If you are experiencing odd behavior while using MVE through the Microsoft Remote Desktop app on a OSX device, follow these instructions to install an older, more stable version of the app.

Note: Version 8.0.32 released May 25, 2016 has caused many issues or bugs for MVE users. It should be replaced by the rollback version detailed in this guide.

 

  1. Open your internet browser and navigate to rds.mvecloud.com.

  2. Enter your current username (e.g. mvecloud\12345_01)  and password and click Sign In

  3. Click on the downloads tab at the top



  4. Click the icon labeled “Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac (Roll Back)”



  5. Find the downloaded .zip file and open it.

  6. It will launch the rollback version of the Microsoft Remote Desktop app. (Drag the icon to the Dock to keep it in the Dock for future use)

  7. Please note that this rollback version will be titled “Microsoft Remote Desktop (original)”
