How to import a custom Rx letter for New York State Rx pads

Purpose

This article provides information on how to import a Rx letter within My Vision Express for customers using New York state Rx pads.

NOTE - This article is only applicable to customers specifically using New York State Rx pads. For instructions on how to create a custom Rx letter, click here.

Steps

To begin, download the pre-formatted New York prescription Rx .rtf file by clicking here. Make note of the download location, as you will need to access it later.

Next, access the letters module within My Vision Express, and create and name a new custom letter. 

  • Go to File > Letters, and ensure you are on the 'Letters' tab
  • Click the 'Add' button, enter a name under the 'Letter Name' field
  • Under 'Type', select 'Prescription' from the drop down menu.

warning IMPORTANT - Before proceeding, ensure the .rtf file is not open, as this will prevent it from importing successfully.

 

  • Click on the 'Letter Detail' tab as seen in the screenshot below
  • Click on the 'Insert File' button
  • Navigate to the location of the .rtf file that you downloaded earlier
  • Click 'Open'

  • The letter will then be imported and the merge fields will be visible as seen in the screenshot below

  • The letter can now be accessed from 'Medications' under the Health tab in the Exam module by clicking on the 'Letters' button. You can also access the letter from the Vision Rx tab of the patient profile.
